QUESTIONS ABOUT DRINKPURE

What does the filter setup look like?

drinkpure uses a unique combination of several filter stages. The tap water flows through the following layers one after another.

1) Pre-filter with a separation of up to 10 microns

2) Novamem drinkpure high-performance membrane with 0.3 micron separation

3) Activated carbon from naturally grown coconut shells

Can drinkpure filter hot water?

The filter can be used with mixed water. However, the water should not be hotter than 65°C . The filter itself behaves like a mechanical sieve. Since hot water usually carries more deposits than cold water, the filter may clog sooner in some circumstances. But the filter's functions are retained.

What about limescale? Is limescale filtered out?

If you're looking for a pure descaling filter, then drinkpure is not for you. At drinkpure we still want to have healthy minerals in the drinking water. After all, limescale consists precisely of calcium and magnesium and is necessary for our body to a certain extent.

But we also know that hard water isn't pleasant in taste for some people. It would be a shame if we therefore left you out in the rain with the limescale taste. That's why we have an optional limescale reducer, which slightly reduces the limescale content and thus makes the water taste softer. A limescale reducer lasts up to 20 days. Since the water hardness in our latitudes can vary by a factor of 20, an exact figure is hard to give.

But if you want complete descaling, you should consider installing a descaling system at the house inlet. However, this can be associated with costs starting from EUR 3,000 incl. installation.

Does drinkpure also work without a limescale reducer?

Yes, the limescale reducer is optional and included as standard in every starter set. At the first change, you're welcome to replace or dispose of it. But the filter must always contain a filter cartridge. Otherwise the filtration won't work.

How does the quick coupling work?

Thanks to the supplied coupling, you can remove or attach the filter in seconds. In this video you'll see how

Will I see a change with a TDS meter? (minerals / conductivity)

With a TDS device (Total Dissolved Solids) you measure the conductivity of water. This depends on the number of ions dissolved in the water. The device then converts the conductivity into a mineral value. The higher the value, the higher the number of ions in your drinking water.

Unfortunately, though, only minerals and salts form such ions in the water and change the conductivity. This means that your TDS device mainly determines the mineral content of your drinking water (magnesium, calcium etc). Minerals are useful for the body and are not removed by the drinkpure filter.

And now here's the thing: most impurities in drinking water are not detected by the TDS device, because they don't form ions and therefore have no influence on the conductivity of the drinking water. These include, for example:

- bacteria, viruses
- microplastics, microparticles
- suspended solids, rust and sediments
- hormones, drug residues, solvents

So we're sorry – but with your TDS device you won't be able to measure any significant change with drinkpure. To measure biological or chemical substances, you usually need specific equipment, measuring instruments and well-equipped test laboratories.

With our university background, we therefore know which tests need to be done how and where. Here's a list:

Report on bacteria and virus filtration
Report on bacteria
Report on pesticides
Report on microplastics
Tap water Indonesia, filtered
Tap water China, filtered

What test reports are there?

drinkpure has been proven to remove more than 99.9999% of bacteria, more than 99% of microplastics and microparticles and reduces pesticides. The test reports were carried out by third-party laboratories. In addition, two test reports with tap water from Jakarta (Indonesia) and Shanghai (China), which after filtration meets or even exceeds all WHO standards. All our products are BPA-free! Please contact us directly so that we can send these to you.

When it first flows through, the water is black. Is that normal?

It's normal for some activated carbon dust to come along on first use. This is a sign that the filter is new and unused. During the production of activated carbon, a bit of carbon dust always forms, which then settles in the fine pores of the activated carbon. This dust then has to be rinsed out. The activated carbon is harmless and could even be eaten.

Can I safely drink from any source thanks to drinkpure?

drinkpure removes more than 99.9999% of E. coli bacteria and 99% of microplastics and microparticles. Bad odours, such as chlorine, are also reduced. Beyond that, we can't make you any blanket promises. drinkpure offers a great deal of safety, but it's still always possible that a contaminant in the drinking water can't be removed, or can't be removed to a sufficient degree. So there's never a 100% guarantee. But as a general rule: with a filter you're always safer than without one!

The filter won't open anymore, what can I do?

It's possible that some limescale has built up in the thread over time and the filter is therefore a little stuck now. Why not try letting a little olive oil flow into the thread and letting it all sit for about 1 hour. After that, you should hold the wings on the filter with your weaker hand and turn the ring (anticlockwise) with your stronger hand.

I have an M22 internal thread. How do I install drinkpure?

I have an M24 external thread. How do I install drinkpure?

I want to avoid plastic waste. Can I do that with drinkpure HOME?

drinkpure HOME lasts about two months, filtering up to 500 litres of tap water in that time. That already corresponds to a PET reduction of over 99%, if you imagine that you could avoid 500 x 1L PET bottles. On top of that, drinkpure HOME has replaceable filter cartridges. So you don't have to buy the whole set again.

What do I need in order to install drinkpure at home?

We've put together starter sets especially for you. If you want to attach drinkpure directly to a faucet, then buy this one. It contains:

- a filter housing
- the pre-installed quick coupling
- a replacement filter and a limescale reducer, already fitted
- the standard M22 and M24 adapters

And here's how you can tell whether you need anything more:

In the case of kitchen pull-out sprayers, we also have a special starter set. This includes a matching kitchen sprayer with an already installed quick coupling. You just have to unscrew your old sprayer and mount the new one – and then you can enjoy filtered water.

For faucets that need recessed aerators, we likewise have an offer for you. Our online thread helper or our customer service will be happy to help you if you have questions about your personal situation.

Which kitchen faucets can drinkpure be installed on?

drinkpure is compatible with a large number of faucets. We supply the drinkpure starter set with M22 and M24 adapters as standard. So in most cases you don't need any additional adapters.

Here's a quick overview.

Important – Should you need an adapter, our customer service will be happy to help you. We carry pretty much all adapters and can advise you accordingly.

Incompatible faucets

Here's a short list of faucets that are not compatible with drinkpure. This is not an exhaustive list. If in doubt, please contact our customer service

KWC AVA line: This has an M18x2 thread on the hose and is therefore not compatible

What happens to the water flow once I've installed my filter?

The filter fundamentally reduces the flow, because the water is pushed through various filter layers. With a new filter, the flow rates can be between 1 - 5 L/min depending on water pressure (min. 1 bar) and water quality. The filter is a mechanical sieve. When it clogs and the water flow becomes slower, that means it has held back large amounts of dirt and impurities from the tap water. Do you have questions about the flow? Then contact our customer service!

Can drinkpure be used with a low-pressure faucet?

No, drinkpure is not suitable for low-pressure fittings. With a low-pressure fitting
there's a boiler under the sink. So you just have to take a quick look under the
sink and check whether there's a boiler there.

Why is regularly changing the filter so important with water filters?

A regular filter change for water filters is crucially important,
to ensure clean and healthy water quality. The drinkpure system is a great solution for improving water quality directly at the faucet. With its simple quick-release system,
the filter cartridge can be replaced in just a few seconds. At drinkpure we recommend changing the filter cartridge every two months at the latest, to ensure that the water is always of the highest quality and that the filter's maximum performance is guaranteed. More about that in our blog.
