What are replacement filters and lime reducers? Do I need them?

The drinkpure filter contains filter cartridges and lime reducers that need to be changed regularly. This is quick and easy. In our video, you can see how it works.

The filter cartridge should be replaced every 2 months, during which up to 500 liters of tap water are filtered. We recommend changing the lime reducer every 2-3 weeks to achieve the best possible taste.
By the way: The lime reducer is optional. The filter works perfectly well without the lime reducer. However, the filter cartridge is of course absolutely necessary.

You can purchase all replacement cartridges either as a set of 3, or you can subscribe to our monthly cancellable filter subscription. With our filter subscription, you conveniently receive the cartridges by mail every two months and also save money in the process.

Our filter subscription is the most convenient and affordable way to permanently clean water. With our subscription, you receive the replacement filters and optionally the limescale reducers conveniently every two months by mail to your home. This way, you always know when it's time to change your filter. And the best part is: you also save money.

How exactly does the assembly work?

The assembly is incredibly simple. You just screw our quick coupling onto your faucet and hang the filter. Feel free to also check out this video:

Why should I prefer to filter tap water rather than buy bottled water?

We believe that everyone has the right to clean, healthy, and affordable drinking water, and we have the duty to protect the planet. Regarding the reasons and benefits, we would like to simply quote the German Consumer Association here:

For 10 euros, you can get about 4,000 liters of tap water – or 2 to 20 liters of mineral water (depending on the brand and place of purchase). Tap water is therefore unbeatable in price! Moreover, it doesn't have to be carried, and delivery is free – you just have to turn on the tap. Furthermore, tap water is by far the most environmentally friendly drink. Mineral water, on the other hand, must be bottled in reusable or single-use bottles, which then need to be transported and possibly recycled. These bottles typically require above-average long transport routes. This is associated with many CO2 emissions and high resource consumption. Tap water helps reduce the annual waste mountain of 16.5 billion single-use plastic bottles across Germany.

In 2020 alone, around one billion liters of mineral water were imported to Germany, which has a very negative impact on the climate. The climate impact of (especially bottled in single-use bottles) mineral water is almost 600 times higher in Germany than that of tap water. If everyone in the country switched to tap water, the CO2 savings would be as high as one and a half times the domestic air traffic (before Corona) per year!

Is there really no chemistry in the filter?
No, drinkpure filters exclusively through natural, physical properties. In other words: We do not use chemicals that make your water clean.
How does the technology work exactly?
Pre-filters and membranes operate on the principle of size exclusion. Like a spaghetti strainer, they filter out all components that are larger than the mesh size. Activated carbon, on the other hand, works like a sponge that absorbs and binds dissolved chemicals in water. What and who is behind drinkpure?

In the laboratories of ETH Zurich, some clever minds have just discovered the basic formula for a high-performance membrane for water filtration – but that immediately led to the next question: What next? The idea of a personal travel filter called "drinkpure Outdoor" was born.

After another 2 years of work and a successful crowdfunding campaign, the company Novamem AG was founded in 2015. The first filters were finally delivered in June 2015, and that to over 33 countries!

After another successful crowdfunding campaign, we now had the opportunity to develop a filter for home use, and drinkpure as you see it today was born. Since we are still a modest team, and we found that you are mainly interested in home water filtration, we then focused entirely on that.

Where is drinkpure produced?
Quite simple, in Switzerland! We have an efficient team that assembles and packages the individual filter components for us. Additionally, we collaborate with the Swiss foundation "arwo" for shipping, which gives adults with disabilities the opportunity for a normal life. So we know what is hidden in your filter!
Is drinkpure tested?
Yes, and also from independent testing institutes. You can find more about this on our FAQ page (Link), including test reports. Likewise, we are also a proud bearer of the SolarImpuls Label "Efficient Solution", which further emphasizes the sustainability of the filter.
How does the shipping work?

If you order on weekdays by 3:00 PM, we usually send your order on the same working day. Shipping is free.

drinkpure is a hygiene product and is therefore sealed in a hygiene packaging. This is a sign that the filter was originally packed by us. Please note that if the hygiene packaging is opened, your right of return of 14 days expires. We have specially packaged the M22 / M24 adapter separately so that you can install it in advance.

Can I return the filter if I don't like it?
If you would like to return the filter, you can send your order back within 14 days of receipt. The return period begins on the day you took possession of the goods. Please note that the returned goods must be in a resalable condition and the hygiene packaging must not be opened or damaged.

Do you have a kitchen faucet?

In the case of kitchen faucets, we also have a special starter set. This includes a suitable kitchen faucet with an already installed quick coupling.
