What do I get out of filtering my water?

You live healthier!

With the drinkpure water filter you enjoy healthier tap water, completely without chemicals.

No more hauling!

Do you also lug heavy water bottles around? With the drinkpure filter you save yourself lugging around about 1 tonne of water bottles per year.

You save real money!

Switching to tap water saves a family of 4 up to 1.000 EUR a year.

You're protecting the planet!

Bottled water causes over 500 times more CO2 per litre than tap water. So you actively protect the environment by avoiding plastic waste.

What are replacement filters and limescale reducers? Do I need them?

The drinkpure filter contains filter cartridges and limescale reducers that need to be changed regularly. It's quick and child's play. In our video you can see how it works.

The filter cartridge should be replaced every 2 months, filtering up to 500 litres of tap water in that time. We recommend changing the limescale reducer every 2-3 weeks to keep the best possible taste.

By the way: the limescale reducer is optional. The filter also works perfectly fine without the limescale reducer. The filter cartridge, however, is of course absolutely essential.

You can buy all replacement cartridges either as a set of 3, or you can take out our filter subscription, which can be cancelled monthly. With our filter subscription, you conveniently receive the cartridges by post to your home every two months and save money too.

The drinkpure filter subscription

Our filter subscription is the most convenient and most affordable way to permanently clean water. With our subscription you conveniently receive the replacement filters and optionally the limescale reducers by post to your home every two months. So you always know when it's time to change your filter. And the best part is: you also save money doing it.

The subscription consisting of filter & limescale reducer costs €19.99 per month. That corresponds to an annual price of €238.80. If you were to buy everything individually, the price per year would be €539.00. So you save over 50%!

The subscription without limescale reducer costs you only €13.90. And now go ahead and work out how much you spent on bottled water last month ;-)

By the way: if you buy the filter and take out the subscription at the same time, you get another up to 10% discount.

Why should I filter tap water rather than buy bottled water?

We believe that everyone has the right to clean, healthy and affordable drinking water and that we have the task of protecting the planet. On the reasons and benefits, at this point we'd simply like to quote the German consumer advice center:

„For 10 euros you can get about 4,000 liters of tap water – or 2 to 20 liters of mineral water (depending on the brand and place of purchase). So tap water is unbeatably cheap! On top of that, it doesn't have to be lugged around, and delivery is free to your door – you just have to turn on the tap. Moreover, water from the tap is by far the most environmentally friendly drink. Because mineral water has to be bottled in reusable or single-use bottles, which in turn have to be transported and possibly recycled. These bottles usually require above-average long transport routes. This is associated with a lot of CO2 emissions and high resource consumption. Tap water helps to reduce the annual mountain of waste of 16.5 billion single-use plastic bottles across Germany.

In 2020 alone, around one billion liters of mineral water were imported into Germany, which have a very negative effect on the climate. The climate impact of mineral water (especially that bottled in single-use bottles) is almost 600 times higher in Germany than that of tap water. If everyone in the country switched to tap water, the CO2 savings would be as high as one and a half times the amount of domestic German air traffic (before Corona) per year!“

Are there really no chemicals in the filter?

No, drinkpure filters exclusively via natural, physical properties. Or to put it another way: we don't use any chemicals to make your water clean.

How exactly does the technology work?

The pre-filter and membrane work on the principle of size exclusion. Like a spaghetti strainer, they filter out all components that are larger than the sieve mesh. The activated carbon, on the other hand, works like a sponge that soaks up and binds chemicals dissolved in the water. If you'd like even more detailed information about our technology, feel free to take a closer look at our technology page.

What and who is behind drinkpure?

In the laboratories of ETH Zurich, a few bright minds had just discovered the basic formula for a high-performance membrane for water filtration – but that immediately led to the next question: what next? The idea of their own travel filter called «drinkpure Outdoor» was born.

After another 2 years of work and a successful crowdfunding campaign, the company Novamem AG was founded in 2015. The first filters were finally delivered in June 2015, and to over 33 countries!

After another successful crowdfunding campaign, we now had the opportunity to develop a filter for home, and drinkpure as you see it today was born. Since we are still a modest team, and we noticed that you're mainly interested in water filtration at home, we then focused entirely on that.

If you want to know even more, why not stop by our Story.

Where is drinkpure made?

Quite simply, in Switzerland! We have an efficient team that assembles and packs the individual filter components here at our place. On top of that, for shipping we work together with the Swiss foundation „arwo“, which gives adults with disabilities the chance at a normal life. So we know what's hidden inside your filter!

Is drinkpure tested?

Yes, and by independent testing institutes at that. You can find more about this on our FAQ page (link), including test reports. We're also a proud holder of the SolarImpulse „Efficient Solution“ label, which further underlines the filter's sustainability.

How does shipping work?

If you order on weekdays before 3:00 pm, we usually send your order out on the same working day. Shipping is free.

drinkpure is a hygiene product and is therefore sealed in hygiene packaging. This is a sign that the filter was originally packed by us. Please note that once the hygiene packaging has been opened, your 14-day right of return expires. We've packed the M22 / M24 adapter separately, so that you can install it beforehand.

Can I return the filter if I don't like it?

If you'd like to return the filter, you can send your order back within 14 days of receipt. The return period begins from the day you took possession of the goods. Please note that the returned goods must be in a resalable condition and the hygiene packaging must not be opened or damaged.

Do you have a kitchen sprayer?

For kitchen spray heads, we also have a special starter set. This includes a matching kitchen spray head with the quick coupling already installed.

You just have to unscrew your old spray head and fit the new one – and then you can enjoy filtered water.
